In its 8th edition, this walking tour in Algarve, more concretely in the municipality of Loulé, will provide you not only with astonishing views of the north of the region, but you will also get the chance to discover the natural and cultural richness of the Serra do Caldeirão and talk to local algarvians. When?
 
The 8th edition of the Walking Festival Ameixial will be held on the 8th and 9th of May 2021. To ensure the safety of these sports events, every anti-Covid-19 measure will be taken; which includes: social distancing, compulsory mask during the whole event and disinfection of all the equipment and material used for the activities after every use. What will I learn at the Walking Festival Ameixial?
 
The tour guides will not only show you the way, but will also share with the participants the natural and heritage values associated with the north of the Algarve, for example through a visit to the Cascalheira water mill, almost uninhabited mountain villages, the beautiful landscapes of the Vascão valley, or visiting typical villages. A once in a lifetime opportunity to get to know the local history of the Algarve from the hand of its inhabitants! What was life like in the iron age in the Algarve hills? What were the megaliths?

How do I get there?
 
The Walking Festival Ameixial will meet for the depart of all its routes in Ameixal. Ameixal is a one-hour drive from Faro, Albufeira and Tavira. From Portimão and Lagos it is about an hour and a half ride.
 
Renting a car would be the best way to get to the Walking Festival Ameixial, but if you don’t have this possibility and you are lodged at the coast of Algarve, you might consider the transportation that the Olympium Resort will make available to attend this event, with depart from Quinta do Lago (municipality of Almancil), where the Olympium Resort is located.
