Top 6 Paradise Beaches in Algarve

Top 6 paradise beaches in Algarve - ideal for the safest vacation!

Summer is coming... Are you looking for a holiday away from multitudes? Only a short break from crowded cities? A long stay in a calm place to work? Whichever your motivation is, Algarve is your dreamed destination.
Did you know that the most beautiful deserted beaches of Portugal are in Algarve? Don’t you believe me? Let’s discover a little piece of Algarve, Europe’s most famous secret.

1. Praia da Culatra, Faro.

The top 6 Paradise beaches in Algarve are crowned by this isolated beach. Located on the barrier island of Ria Formosa (Faro), the only way to get to Praia da Culatra is by private boat. At your arrival, you will discover a paradise of sand bathed by warm and quiet water. An ideal place to rest and connect with yourself, as the only people you will find on the island will be busy fishermen untangling their nets.

If after a day under the sun you feel like tasting the local gastronomy, in the heart of the island you will find high-quality restaurants specialised in local fish and octopus, which Olympium Resort highly recommends.

2. Praia de Benagil, Lagoa.

You may have already seen Praia de Benagil's characteristic skylight in the highest point of its cave, called  Algar de Benagil. However, I am sure you have never been there. Praia de Benagil creates a private environment due to the the wall of cliffs that surrounds it and its location in the bottom of a valley.  Reaching Praia de Benagil won't be easy, as the best way to get there is canoeing or by private boat; but the experience will certainly be worth it.

Attention: don't try to get to this beach swimming, it is extremely dangerous due to the strong current and sudden changes in tides.

3. Praia da Ilha Deserta, Faro.

What do you imagine when you think about "a paradise island"? I am sure you are very likely picturing a place pretty similar to Barreta Island -or Ilha da Barreta, in Portuguese. In this very special location, on the most south Portuguese land, you will find the astonishing Ilha Deserta, which owes its name, "deserted", to the absence of population.

Praia da Ilha Deserta offers over 10 km of sand surrounded by the clearest water of the Atlantic Ocean, a prove that the Algarve is a dreamland place for relaxation.

4. Praia do Homem Nu, Tavira.

The Praia do Homem Nu, which means "Beach of the Naked Man", is a place full of ancient stories. According to the legend, the name "Praia do Homem Nu" was given after a shipwreck near Tavira where only one man survived. This man arrived naked to the shore of this magnificent beach.
Due to its name, it is a nudist beach, although dress people are also welcome. The beach is on the western end of Tavira Island, a location usually deserted and always savage, without anyone to disturb those who enjoy its crystal water.

5. Praia da Salema, Figueira.

The British newspaper The Guardian considered Praia da Salema one of the 50 most beautiful beaches in the world. The reason are its surroundings: a fishing village that seems to have avoided the mass tourism development that a huge part of Portugal's coastline suffered.

Praia da Salema is surrounded by a typical Algarvian fishing village, native nature, roman ruins, a former canning factory and some dinosaur footprints. As you can imagine, you will never get bored at Praia da Salema!

6. Praia da Marinha, Lagoa.

Praia da Marinha has a very characteristic landscape: orangish cliffs that rise from blue and emerald green water. Its beauty makes it one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal and, according to Condé Nast Traveler, one of the ten best beaches in Europe.
Getting there is quite tricky: you will need to descend about 1 km among savage greenery. It can be tough, but I assure you every step will be worth it! You will find yourself in wild nature, among stone arcs sculpted by waves, hidden caves and wonderful marine life. Snorkeling is highly recommendable at Praia da Marinha!
